We, as Americans, have our priorities in order. When San Francisco Chronicle reporters leaked secret testimony dealing with Barry Bonds exceptionally obvious steroid abuse, the court in question told the reporters to name names or go to jail. The astonishing revelation of Barroids’ lust for illegitimate home runs surprised exactly nobody, but still put the leakers in a precarious position.
Of course, when the New York Times, enemy of free people everywhere, revealed not one, but two different classified antiterrorism programs, the government didn’t care.
“Revealing” something everyone knew anyway about a cheater in a boring sport apparently means more than jeopardizing American interests worldwide. It’s not surprising, of course, but merely illustrative of the government’s halfway efforts in fighting terror. After all, how can America waste time with mere terror when cheaters need our help?
